The Midlife Queen Community
A gathering place for women who are done performing and ready to rise. This isn’t a newsletter or a surface-level space. It’s where midlife women exhale, tell the truth, and return to themselves — together, without judgment, pressure, or pretending.

Signature Mentoring Pathways
Every midlife awakening has its own rhythm. Some begin as a quiet tug, others as a full identity rupture. These mentoring pathways meet you where you are — guiding you back to truth, desire, boundaries, joy, and the woman beneath the conditioning.

Midlife women are not simply anxious, and many clinicians see the limits of outdated frameworks. This professional ecosystem supports psychologists working with midlife and menopause, grounded in developmental insight, feminist values, and rigorous practice in practice.

Short, sharp, soulful riffs on the real truth of midlife. This is where we stop pretending and start telling it straight — about identity, rage, grief, desire, joy, and becoming fully human. No fluff. No filters. Just depth, wit, and warmth.

These aren’t pastel wellness workshops. They’re spaces for women who feel the internal rebellion stirring — gatherings grounded in truth, identity, emotional honesty, and real joy. These are the rooms where women stop performing and start becoming.

Midlife women aren’t just anxious — and many clinicians feel the limits of outdated models. This is a professional ecosystem for psychologists working with midlife and menopause, grounded in developmental, feminist, and psychologically rigorous practice.

A quiet space for midlife women rebuilding self-trust.
No performance.
No pressure.
No algorithm to feed.
Just thoughtful letters on self-leadership, identity, and the shifts that happen in midlife especially when you’re done outsourcing your authority.
If you’d like to receive them, you’re welcome here.
I help midlife women come home to themselves.
(Yeah, it might sound a bit wanky. I know. Still true though.)
Not by fixing you.
Not by forcing you.
Not by handing you another thing to manage, hold together, or get right.
Nope.
I work with women in the middle of the midlife reckoning.
The identity unravelling.
The truth rising.
The boundary-making, desire-returning, slightly chaotic, deeply necessary shift that doesn’t ask permission.
Because for a lot of us, midlife isn’t a glow-up.
It’s a shake-up.
I walk alongside women who are done:
self-silencing
self-sacrificing
over-functioning
shrinking
carrying everyone and everything ...
And who are ready to choose themselves.
My mentoring blends
Deep psychological insight - because lots of quals and nearly 30 years experience cannot be ignored
Honest conversation - I have no capacity for bulls#it
Rebellion with a conscience - solid ethics does not mean compliance with patriarchal rules
Archetypal self-leadership - think maiden, mother, queen and crone
Fierce compassion - because we all need work on this one
Sovereignty as a practice - because we only need our own permission in this life
Joy as reclamation - because joy is the lube of midlife
Narrative repair and identity building - because I know you're like, 'who the fck am I?'
Lived experience - been there, got the t-shirt and quite frankly, still living, learning, crying, laughing, raging through it all. Fortunately for me ... and you ... I do a little less crying and raging these days.

I’m Kirstin Bouse, Clinical Psychologist, mentor, writer, and a woman who discovered that perimenopause isn’t a gentle nudge. It’s a full-scale internal uprising, the kind that sweeps through your life without warning and insists you pay attention.
I didn’t step into this work because it looked neat or inspirational. I stepped into it because it dismantled me first.
I spent seven long years in the trenches of perimenopause. Exhausted to the marrow, losing words mid-sentence, crying at the slightest provocation, mood swings with the power of a small cyclone, and holding together a life that suddenly felt too small. HRT didn’t help me at all. And yes, there’s a skip-bin story that my family still brings up like it’s folklore.
And perimenopause didn’t hit me in isolation. I was also navigating divorce, raising kids, building and selling an 18-year-strong group psych practice, and living in a seven-year “living-apart-together” relationship long before it was a TikTok trend.
All of it pushed on every raw edge I had. All of it exposed the places I’d been holding my breath or holding myself back.
I’ve worked across courtrooms, hospitals, prisons, universities, and therapy rooms for nearly three decades. I can handle complex human stories. But nothing cracked me open like midlife.
And weirdly, that cracking was my turning point.
Perimenopause stripped me down to my truth.
It revealed every pattern of self-silencing, self-sacrificing and ultimately, self-abandonment.
It forced me to stop carrying everyone else’s emotional luggage.
It burned through the parts of me that were still trying to be “good,” “agreeable,” “capable,” “fine.”
What emerged was sharper. Clearer. Unapologetic.
A woman who no longer wanted to go back to being easy-going ... at least when easy-going meant selling myself out.
That's why I do this work.
I don’t help women “cope” with midlife.
I help them reclaim themselves through it.
I don’t pretend this is just hormones. I work with menopause as the psychological, developmental, identity-level reorientation it really is.
My approach blends evidence, intuition, feminist psychology, lived experience, irreverent humour, and the kind of truth-telling that makes women exhale in relief.
If you’ve landed here, chances are something in you is shifting too. The quiet rebellion, the “I can’t keep living like this” and the knowing that your life needs to fit you now, not who you were twenty years ago.
You’re not failing.
You’re awakening.
And this place - my work, my words, my presence - exists so you don’t have to do it alone.
Welcome to your midlife rebellion.
I’m so bloody glad you’re here.
I'm not everyone's cup of tea. But if you want to #remember #rebel and #rise then come be a Queen of Midlife with me.
This mentoring is for women who are ready to live on their own terms, in their own time and without apology.

This is psychologically informed mentoring for women standing at the breaking point of midlife.
We don’t fix you.
We don’t bypass the mess.
We don’t rush you to empowerment. (Just quietly I really don't like that word. It sounds wanky. But I like what it means. Ahh I'm such a contradiction.)
We tell the truth about what this stage actually costs ...
And then we work with what's real.
We make sense of what's shifting.
Name what's no longer working, even when it's inconvenient.
Untangle the patterns that have kept you over-functioning and self-abandoning.
Support you to make decisions that reflect who you are NOW, not who've you've been trained to be.
Help you build a life that fits, rather than one that just looks good from the outside.
This is slow, honest, identity-level work.
Not about becoming someone new. About no longer leaving yourself behind.

On your terms.
Without disappearing.
Without asking permission.
